This week I’m a "summer camp" for my six-year-old daughter. She graduated kindergarten last week and doesn’t start summer school until next week. So I get to spend an entire week with this busy kid!
We’ve been riding bikes a ton (more like she rides and I follow behind pushing the stroller), visiting the local garden shop, playing the mud kitchen, keeping a june bug and a roly-poly as a pet, and doing lots of doodling. My camp counselor duty isn't much, mostly just telling her "make sure the lid of the bug house is closed." My daughters are getting in some extra sister-time, which is the best part of summer break.
Today we did an IKEA run in the morning (actually our second time this week, and we just found out that they serve breakfast there!), and after we came home for a quick break, we walked (and biked) over to our local art supply shop. I love living within walking distance of an art supply shop.
We each picked out a new sketchbook and a few pens that we wanted to try. Since my younger one was still asleep in the stroller, we stopped by the tea shop next door, sat out on the patio, and just drew together. It was such a great day.
Here's the doodle I made while we were sharing a taro milk tea boba. (much inspired by my six-year-old and her Papa!)
